Hi all,
A few weeks ago, I started looking at a dog enrichment idea on Amazon. I kept seeing a popsicle holder show up when I was looking for dog treats, that was by the company Woof. I am not being paid for telling you folks about their treats. I wanted to mention their popsicle holder, though, because it’s something that has proven to help Daisy and I stay sane these last few weeks with my surgery recovery process. I bought a popsicle holder and a mold for being able to make our own popsicles at home. That was an extremely good purchase to have made.
Yesterday, I was looking at possibilities for being able to make homemade dog treats that I could put into the popsicle holder because while Woof, as a company, does sell non frozen treats, I am not high enough income to be able to afford to buy those very regularly.
So I thought that I would see if I could make some dog treats that Daisy would like, and that would keep her entertained for longer than the frozen treats using the mold that I had purchased from the company, and a recipe or several recipes combined to be able to bake treats it would last longer.
This is the recipe I put together. Both Daisy and Baran are smitten with this recipe.
Woof popsicle holder homemade treats
Ingredients for the baked treats:
Flour
4 tbsp of peanut butter( check the label, and make sure that it does not contain aspartamine.)
3 tsp tuna fish juice
3 tsp bacon grease or pig lard
1/2 cup goat milk or water if you don’t want to use milk
Mix the wet ingredients in with the dry, and add flour until you are able to roll a ball.
Put your dough into the freezer mold, and freeze until solid. This helps maintain the shape of the treat for the popsicle holder when you go to remove the dough from the mold.
Once frozen, heat your oven to 350°, and put them in the oven on a greased cookie tray.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes depending on how crunchy you want your treat to be.
